The Making of Our Camouflage
The evolution of Evade has been an ongoing process that has been many years in the making. In it’s infant stages it began as a mimetic pattern, then moved onto an abstract design. There have been in excess of 60 versions created with more than 20 costumes constructed to gauge environmental effectiveness. Each prototype was field tested, photographed, evaluated then revised. This tedious process led to the final development of RTM (Random Tonal Microstructure), which is the key element we use to develop our abstract camouflage.


Versatile Blending Capability
Coincident disruption refers to a camouflages capability of blending into its surroundings, while not attempting to literally mimic it (as opposed to mimetic camouflage). Our patterns are created through an abstract design process; they do not employ HD imagery or photographic elements, as such they do not aim to mimic any specific environment. Our testing has demonstrated that the randomness of tonal microstructure consistently delivers the most versatile blending capability over a wider range of habitats.


Boundary Disruption
As distances increase, one of the major drawbacks of many camouflage systems is the condition of isoluminant equilibrium. This phenomenon results in a patterns tones and colours melding and uniting into the appearance of a single tonal value, creating a dark silhouette at distance (blobbing out). To counteract this complication, our camouflage employs duo tonal macro pattern elements to enhance visual boundary recognition confusion while assisting with outline boundary deception.


Random Tonal Microstructure
Years of designing camouflage has led us to develop Random Tonal Microstructure (RTM) as the core framework encompassing our camouflage construction. It’s use does not employ any geometric elements (pixels, squares, hexagons), nor does it rely on photo-realistic imagery (branches, leaves, grass etc). Composing of spattered, random, shapeless, tonal flecks; the use of RTM allows us to achieve coincidental disruption, enabling the hunter to visually unite with their background.

Our First Production Pattern
